She was very uncertain of this move. Her kind was not supposed to experience these things. Yet she was not truly a warrior as she always had wanted. Weak and frail and so vulnerable—this was not how it was supposed to be. No matter how nauseating this was, she could not help but marvel at what this was. His voice was immensely soft as he spoke her name in a breath no more than a whisper that caused her ears to flicker and lean towards the sound. It was ridiculously hard to meet his ice blue gaze, but eventually they met and he spoke again. Ice and fire continued to merge within the depths of her belly. What did he mean? The young Hydra prayed they were talking about the same thing here, but there was no certainty that could reassure her. There seemed to be emotion in the ice, of course, but she was so afraid of misinterpreting him.

It could have been so easy to simply say that no, he would not lose her, but there were other things that were bound to affect this friendship or whatever this was turning into. It had been a rape, no doubt, but she could not say that word out loud. ”I have a child.” Did it sound ludicrous in his ears as well?
