It was quiet, the quiet that Bindu liked best. There were little noises here and there, like birds or wind through the trees, but they were comforting. The young hybrid had grown more at ease with the sounds of nature, since she had been taken in by Geneva. At first, she couldn't stand the outdoors whatsoever. Now it was okay to sit by the door, or, on good days, the porch, looking out at the world. Today was a good day.

The door had been unlocked for about a week. Bindu found that she could nudge it open with her nose and slip out quietly. Sometimes there was a wolf in the hall; usually Geneva, occasionally Geneva's mate, Jefferson. But if anyone was there -standing where her dark eyes could reach-, the wolfdog would just sit outside her door and be very still, not daring to venture towards the porch, not trying to scare anyone away. The teen wanted company now, even if it was silent. Her black eyes longed to swallow all the life within the ranch up. She wanted to look at someone, to watch them and feel good in watching them. Bindu had spent months alone, and now that her brain was mending, loneliness had begun to settle in.

The front door, to the hybrid's left, protested audibly. Her head turned alertly, if not eagerly, dark eyes searching for the wolf that was, no doubt, leaving the house. And Bindu was not wrong; she saw a smudge of lavender, and then it was a pint-sized canine, with vivid blue eyes like Pripyat's. Unsettling blue eyes, but beautiful, too. The kid had bright copper fur and was wearing a purple-y piece of cloth on its back.

Initially, the girl was kind of confused at the sight of the puppy. She thought that the only one in the house was Pripyat; who was this strange child, with fuzzy fur and clear blue eyes? Was she another one of Geneva's kids? Bindu did not worry for long, however. The pit of loneliness inside of her got a bit less frightening as she stared at this pretty young girl, with her own ugly black eyes. She stood but couldn't think of anything to say. What were you supposed to say when you met someone new? "Who are yer' name?" the teen finally blurted, her words mixing up in her mouth and coming out all wrong. Bindu had trouble with grammar. She knew what she was supposed to say ... it just didn't come out good.
