whee!

Oak had gotten a little ahead of himself, too excited to finally witness the ocean. He was happy to see Denali right behind him and decided that he would not run quite so fast from now on. To Oak, this was Denali's adventure as much as it was his. They should get to the ocean together, not one leading the other.

The smell of the ocean was strong in his nose, a fresh and salty aroma. His paws touched soft sand, and he found it to be the most comfortable thing he had ever walked upon. Feel the sand! he cheered, spanking his front paws exuberantly in the grainy substance and watching small swirls of it burst into the air. Once he had admired the sand enough to suit himself, Oak's attention was ceased by the even greater spectacle ahead. It was the sea. Forever beyond it lay, a span of water broken not by land on the horizon, but by the sky itself. Oak turned wide-eyed and gazed wonderingly at his agouti friend.
