Inferni was not a place for Anu’s children, regardless of who their father was. She could not raise warriors. She was strong, but she was not made for war. Gabriel had seen his first litter suffer tremendously. He would not stand by and see such a thing happen again.

A ghost of a smile crossed his face at her warmth, but it did not linger. He focused on the two children, boys who were still young enough to be called such, and said nothing. It was not his place to speak, not yet. They had the right to this from him, and he would grant them their voices.
