His mother arrived not long after he had, although she did not join Jefferson’s side as he had. This fact did not bother the boy however, he as content with Jefferson now as he did with Mother, although he still spoke more carefully around his father than he did around his mother. Verbal blunders and mistakes were easily forgiven in Geneva’s eyes, as were any mistakes, but he tried not to make any in front of his father. It wasn’t that he had to be perfect for Jefferson, but he had to be something special, less flawed. And it was this desire to please the leader that caused Pripyat to freeze up when unexpectedly he was scooped up by the older and larger male. That he was still small enough to be handled so easily would change soon, as his body seemed to increase at alarmingly rates by the week. Yet he was settled down in front of the assembled wolves and he suddenly didn’t know what Jefferson wanted of it.

Thankfully no one opted to comment on their leader’s child and once again he was lifted from place and this time set upon Jefferson’s shoulders. Balancing there, he eyed the others as Jefferson instructed them to tell a story. First Addison, and her story explained the existence of Grace, whom the boy had met some time ago. Then Pendzez spoke and after him a male named Noah, who Pripyat was very unfamiliar with. Throughout everyone’s story the boy focused more on his own hammering heartbeat than the words spoken. Would he be expected to speak after them? He had not been asked to and he didn’t think he had any stories worth telling. Not really. When the last words had fallen from Noah’s lips Pripyat buried his face into his father’s fur (an act he soon would be too old to do without feeling childish), ears laid back and waiting for someone else to take the spotlight.
