Her words provoked both a smile and a thoughtful moment. It was true that many couples started off well, their relationships seemingly immaculate; and then, from somewhere black and dirty, resentment was born, prying lovers completely apart. In his weakest moments, Kansas still feared that this could eventually befall him. In his heart, though, he knew that it wouldn't. For some reason, he had been blessed with what he believed was the greatest gift: true love. He was still baffled by it, and perhaps he always would be. Not a day passed in which he was not amazed by what he had with Savina, his luce, his light. He believed that true love existed as a possibility for everyone, the trick was finding it. For some, it took several tries; for others it didn't. Why he had been so lucky in finding it early, he would never know. Maybe Savina had been sent to save him from the dark path he had been following before he met her.

He hoped that it never would, for her sake and for Cambria's. He hoped that they were one another's true and only love, just as certainly as Savina was his. I think you just know never to let it go.
Nothing was perfect. He and Savina had mild disagreements, but they were always so lighthearted and silly that they never left one mark. They each knew that the other was flawed, but accepted those flaws with open arms. Nothing said between them had ever caused him to second-guess their love, or to think that he would be better off without her. The mere thought of losing Savina was the most potent poison in the world.
