Xeris couldn't help but smile as Geneva described her son. She recalled the way she had felt when her own children began to get older and larger and more mature; it was an odd feeling. A feeling of both happiness and sadness and fear and hope, all together at once. It was so strange to see the once tiny little balls of white fur become full-grown adults. She hoped to see Pripyat again soon, knowing she would be surprised by his maturity too. "They do grow up rather quickly, don't they?" she said with a small chuckle, still smiling.

Geneva asked about fireflies. Xeris paused for a moment, closing her eyes and thinking, reliving parts of her past in her mind. She remembered the first time she had been let out of her mother's den, guided by the alphess herself, and explored the summer fields of Heritage Retreat. She remembered her mother turning her nose down to point at a tiny ball of light in the grass as they were on their way home, the same color as Taishia's golden eyes which Xeris had inherited. And she remembered smiling widely at the sparkle of the little insects on that summer night, but back then she never would have imagined thinking back on that night like this. A smile came to her face now, and she sighed, holding back the tears that wanted to come forth at the nostalgic thoughts running through her brain. "Yes," she replied simply, opening her eyes and seeming to snap out of her nostalgic trance. "We had many things there that were like here. But there were many differences too."
