Shawchert had been out on patrol that day. Nothing new had come up, and he figured it was for the best. He decided rather than returning to Sky’s he would sit and get a little more carving done. He had to finish up the new packs presentation. He was hoping that he would get out by the springtime, so that he didn’t have to travel in all the snow. Shawchert was deep in thought. Lots of things had been happening to him of late and one of the most had been that Sky had miscarried pups that had been Jensen’s. Shaw had been upset by it to say the least but not so much as Sky had been, and she had the better reason why.
He moved to the clearing, where he was about to open his door when something white caught his eye. He turned to get a better look and there stood Orin. Shaw’s heart caught in his mouth. He let go of the handle and turned to her, unsure of why she was here. She’d been hiding on him, for obvious reasons… and now he knew it was time for a discussion. She was his friend. He wanted to make things better with her. He moved towards her.
Is there something wrong?
He asked when he saw her worried look. A look he rarely saw on the eccentric woman. He remembered back to what Sky had asked Shaw… of what if Orin was pregnant. A hand seemed to tighten against his heart making it hard to move the blood that was suppose to be going to all of his body… no, that was a what if kind of question. Sky was probably wondering just in case? Or because of her own case, who knew but he let the worry fester him as he had when Sky had asked him once before.
