There was a short silence between the two wolves after Jaden explained his situation. Neither spoke. Even the snowy forest seemed to wait in desperate anticipation for what came next.

With a sigh, the stranger lowered his weapon. He was no more willing to fight than the injured Optime. Jaden watched as the warm colored stranger approached him, drawing what looked like medical supplies from his bag. “That is not necessary, you have done more than enough already.” The Alaskan breathed. His dagger lay in the cold snow, its sliver blade and hard wood handle contrasting with the white. He bent down slowly and put the weapon back into is sheath before moving a little ways away from Zev’s body. He rested on a tree and looked to the stranger, still dizzy and wondering if he should sit or not. “Thank you for doing what you did. If not for you, I would surely be dead.” He said lowering his head to the man. The stranger had a very light way of carrying himself, and the expression he had replaced hostility with was somewhat relaxed and tranquil. This Optime was not just a passerby. Jaden could almost feel the leader ship radiating from him in the bravery and the kindness he was still showing. So, for the first time in his life, Jaden displayed submissive gestures to a stranger. He was, after all, vulnerable, weak, and grateful to still have his life. “My name is Jaden, stranger. What is yours?” He hoped the man might have some information about the local packs in ‘Souls. Finding Vigilante, the wolf he had promised to deal with, was the last thing on his agenda before he could start living his own life. Living for only himself and the last words of his beloved.
