Ever rushed through the open door as soon as she knew there was enough room for her. The stable was dark and warm although the deepest corners had the uninviting chill of winter creeping in. Suddenly, the comforting smell of grain and horse sweat enveloped the wolves and set her nerves to ease. Ocean eyes scanned the aisle and fortunately found only joyous expressions or hungry features on the horse's faces.

It was still early when the girl had left this morning, now glad she did. She didn’t know how long the horses had gone without feed but she didn’t bother to comprehend. Ever slipped past the stalls and towards the hay, one handedly untying a bale and pulling out flakes with a reassuring familiarity. Down the aisle she went again, pulling apart hay and sprinkling it into stalls where hungry horses began consuming without hesitation. Before continuing on. There were few horses in the stables, but enough to be worried about. Many members housed their horses here and since Heath had gone she had taken on a great deal of responsibility caring for them.

As she reached the door, Ever managed to slide it a little farther to allow her stallion in. She rubbed his back as he slipped in, head held high with curiosity and silky mane wet with snow. Beforehand, she had opened a stall for him, and the girl watched the golden steed respectfully touch muzzles with horses down the line before feeding on his own share.
