Mati tensed with the movements of the birth mother naturally. Her shoulders tightened, her arm taking up the weight of the slight female as she pushed. It was longer then a normal second, and time seemed to stop when the pressure was gone and she felt Princess relax back against her. Purple eyes looked at her mate, watching her work and she forgot that she was to help coach the other woman back to the strength that would bring the next puppy into the world. She could only stare, and when Cambria held out the boy wrapped in the cloth she didn't see a midwife presenting her nephew to her brother but her mate holding the newest member of the world.
Her heart paused, the moment lingering and the feeling shocking her. She looked dazed, and the only thing that could shake her from it was the movement of Princess and the quick arrival of the next puppy. She kept her eyes on the face of the new mother, unsure what to make of the sweeping emotion that still lingered in the back of her mind. Of course there were tears, hidden in the outer corners of her eyes, but she didn't know if they were of joy or something else.
