She gave a shake of her head. Unwilling to ask questions, she simply focused on the handsome, desaturated coyote who stood before her. He was different. What she could smell of him was sweet, sugary, and not of the world she was born to. Blood had seeped into her just like any other Infernan; it was simply the way of the world. Imacai, as he had introduced himself, was still relatively pure of that.

As he moved around the shack, she followed, staying far from the window he peered into. As he called to whatever creature was making the sounds, she listened. Her breath slowed, body still and mind clear. There was nothing for her to say, disbelieving that something could have found their way into Inferni without the knowledge of her uncle or the aging Kesho Maisha. Still, there was something. She could feel a cool brush of air without wind as it passed, causing her to turn sharply.
It seemed she was right when she told Ezekiel that there was something simply wrong with Inferni.
