Strelein had found Ever before the King had, but the flamboyant man had not thought himself capable of taking care of the young orphaned girl on the borders, and so the King had taken her in. He had never once regretted it and he still regarded her as a daughter, though she had moved out long ago to be with her mate. He was glad that they had chosen to remain in the pack and they did not appear to want to leave any time soon. The King hoped that they would continue to make the Miracles pack their permanent home and would perhaps even start a family of their own, though hopefully not before they were entirely ready.
Mateship had not been the easiest thing for Vigilante and Ayita, either, and the King could only assume that all couples went through rough patches. Jade eyes of wisdom watched the two boys play a distance away for a moment, considering what his adopted daughter said, before finally turning to gaze at her once more. She was still very young and it was not unusual that she would not have expected difficulties, as the young very rarely do. Vigilante had been the same; he had not expected any of the problems he had experienced, and even created, in his own life. No one ever truly expected hardships in life, but most faced them.
“But you are happy?” he inquired, genuinely hoping that she would tell him that she was. He wanted only the best for the children he considered his own family. He even hoped that Kable was happy out there, wherever he was, with Leroy, though he had not supported the boy’s choice to leave the pack and his mother and sister. Vigilante had not thought Leroy to be a capable parent, however.
