A lost and lonely girl

Sorry in my delay in getting this up D: Sorta rambly; feel free to skip the first three paragraphs. Darkness was just walking through the forest, in Optime, when he heard her.

Explore most of the land around Halcyon Mountain? Check. Run into hostile coyote hybrids from Inferni but manage to escape with his tail? Check. Meet another dark-colored male loner? Check. Meet a crying wolfess? Er, not just yet.

Darkness had to admit, despite the adventures he had had around Halcyon Mountain, he was getting sick of the area. It wasn't so much that he didn't like the characters he had met, he just didn't like the memory he got when he looked up at the giant hills. Every time he looked up at a cliff of some sort, he had to shudder; darn they were high, and the black wolf wasn't exactly fond of heights. He remembered standing on the top of those cliffs, looking down at the wild landscape below him, and being absolutely terrified. He wanted to get away from that type of place at all costs.

The black wolf was walking through the forest on two legs now. Lately he had found himself like this in the daytime and on all fours at night; it was easier to find a nice den than a house, and being the wanderer that he was he didn't intend to settle down anytime soon and felt no need to make a house his own. He had lost his memory in one, right? Besides, while he knew that wolves were social animals at heart - heck, this couldn't be more true for himself - this was just another destination on his travels. After getting around the place he'd have to really see if it was worth staying. It was taking such a long time, though....

His thoughts - most of which he was saying to himself, mumbling incoherently - were interrupted. His ears were pricked as he caught onto a soft, somewhat muffled sound. Confused, he readjusted his satchel - as if he thought the nearly-empty thing was going to help - and slowly walked toward the noise. Bicolor eyes widened when he saw a white wolfess, curled up near a tree. Was she... crying? He had to admit, Darkness thought it was impossible for canines to cry, but he found that he was being proved wrong in this area; just more proof that he had a lot more exploring to do.

He didn't want to be a stranger and spy on her, nor did he want to introduce himself with his typical bout of overbearing friendliness. It was a rare occasion when he managed to osmose a concept such as "be quiet when someone's crying", but of course he had been staring at her for a while now, hiding in the shadows of the trees. While he wasn't quite sure how to handle the situation, he said the first thing that came to mind; "Hey, is something wrong?" For once he spoke quietly, and his tail wasn't wagging, but his tone - though soft - made it clear that he wanted to have a little chat, even if that wasn't the most appropriate suggestion for the moment.
