A thank you gift, that did make her feel slightly better, but she really didn’t think she saved his life worth endlessly rare wine, though she knew his life was even more rare because there would never be one like him ever again. She nodded.
“Thank you very much, it really is good.”
But she sat as he spoke again, her ears folded back slightly, yes the other signs had been misinterpreted, but his words were one of butter to her ears, and she’d read butter was slippery, not a good thing, not for him at least. He was a gentleman yes, but she wasn’t going to be fooled, he may be different but she could see that man inside those words. She would show him just how he thought of the words, though she did not want to end things so quickly so she got up without taking his hand, and giving him a sly like smile, letting him know she didn’t take it on purpose. She wasn’t one for buttered words, but she thought she knew where he stood now, though she would try not to ruin their friendship. She had so few, and if she could live up to Leonards’ constant comment, she would do so with Saluce as well. It was the curse she had for being a woman.
“Please show me I would love to see them, I’m sure there’s plenty of wonderful places here.”
She said, wanting to get moving, hoping to forget his words and go on with a nice morning. Maybe there would be something here to spark her interest, well she was sure of it, how could there not be anything interesting in the pack who probably had the best lands of the other packs put together?
