Wrath wasn’t quite what Jaden met. Nayru’s kindness was still unexpected as she greeted him. He maintained his composer as she spoke despite his surprise and took notice of her eyes again. What a color they were. During his past life, the assassin would look into someone’s eyes when making a difficult or important decision about whether they were truthful or not. They were a window to the soul, he felt. It was a dominant move to look into her eyes too long so it wasn’t long before he causally averted his gaze. Despite her eyes being the color of deep crimson, Nayru’s gaze held such care, such compassion yet again that they seemed to be instantly comforting even for the hardened warrior that hid in Jaden.
“Namaste,” Jaden replied and mimicked her folded hands and bowing movement. “What does it mean?” He did his best to mirror her warm smile but knew his deep blue eyes wouldn’t have the same effect as he stood again. “It sounds like a pleasant way to be greeted.” Nayru’s behavior was continuously surprising. The tones and attitude she used spoke that she was more a friend then an Alphess. Jaden had heard his fellow pack members say that they were ‘brother and sister’ but had no idea just how fully he was to honor that symbolic bond. He surely didn’t have the gumption to try it with his higher-ups yet.
Nayru’s offer to share the bird she had slain was received as most of the conversation had been so far. He stepped closer.“The honor would be mine.” Jaden breathed after a slight hesitation. He wasn’t hungry at all. The dark optime’s stomach was doing barrel roles under his ribs as he was still wrecked with nervous energy. Tense and unsure still but slightly less than before, he said, “I’ve been traveling with Dahlia and now Ichika for the better part of the past two months now. It’s nice to finally meet you Nayru.”
