He felt her hand weak in his the entire time he pulled her along. Anatoliy did not mean to be so rough with her, but the man knew that she would not cooperate with anything short of domination. And this was all that the man would ever do. He did not want her to run away from him, though, not into weather like this with no guaranteed safe place to be. The moment he saw the house, he pulled her along faster, a little harder, until they were both inside of the barely lit home. As soon as the woman was inside of the door, he slammed it shut against the wind and the rain, hearing it clattering on the roof above them.

It was dim in the house and the man knew they would need light or else they would sit in the dark soon. He swooped into the kitchen and found the dry candles in the cabinets. He pulled out two large ones and the box of homemade matches. In a few sweeps of the little sticks, the man had them lit and placed in two candle holders. Those he stuck on the kitchen table. Anatoliy chanced a glance at the woman in his home, eyes full of concern and affection. He straightened sharply as he saw her standing near the door, dripping water onto the stone floor in the entry hall. "Vone moment," muttered the fisherman, going into his bedroom quickly and grabbed the blanket off of it.

Anatoliy tossed it around the woman's shoulders, rubbing her shoulders lightly with it. "Zhere," he said, smiling lightly as he pulled away from her, back to his kitchen. The refrigerator wasn't working, obviously, but it was still used as dry storage for his own food. "Are you hungry, Anann?" Sure, everything was never going to be the same, but the man was going to try to downplay everything. He wished it was the same as always, so he tried to seem as though her leaving him had not hurt him daily.
