It was not long ago that Alder had introduced Noss to Taima, and the man was glad for it. The horse certainly knew its way to and from the stables about the territory, was strong enough to carry Noss and a few kills, and was swift. Of course, like his name suggested, his hooves made sounds like rolling thunder, even when trotting. They were like the beat of a heavy drum, and thus did not make him a very good stealth horse. It fit Noss fine, though, since if he needed the element of surprise, he could use a throwing spear or bow and arrow instead. One did not need a stealthy horse to bring home dinner.

The grey warrior was on his stallion, actually, out for a ride. Back in his home tribe, his horse had been his responsibility. While he knew that there were those whose duty it was to look after the livestock in his place, old habits died hard, and establishing a bond with Taima would be difficult without regular contact. As he was passing over a hill, however, a blurred shape began to appear out of the distance, steadily and swiftly coming ever closer. Squinting, Noss was able to make out the colors and form of the objects, and was mildly surprised to see the black and white man he had met not too long ago on the beach. Ezra? he thought, trying to remember the name. Their meeting had been pleasant and had opened Noss up to the acceptance of sand, that which had been scarce in his native tribe and he had not warmed up to until that point. Taima raised his head and snorted, aware that one of his stable-mates was coming by as well. In greeting, Noss raised his arm high--a traditional form of a nonverbal 'hello'.
