He knew that he shouldn't be here. It wasn't just one of those times where he felt uncomfortable around someone and wanted to remove himself from the situation. That happened often. He needed to fight those urges, to become more social and comfortable in his own skin. He was better then when he was a pup, but this was not the same. There was danger that surrounded the name Keese, and Alder had taken the warning Haven had given his children just as seriously. Now that he was faced with the actual being, not just the name and Alder knew he had to get away from the beast.
Keese mocked him, feeding off the fear as dominant and arrogant creatures did. Alder flinched at the words, his small amount of pride touched but the harmful tone. He didn't understand creatures such as this, the ones that snarled and made his stomach queasy.
The wolf then turned to the stallion, who was looking at him quite angrily, and yelled. Blue eyes looked at the stained teeth that he bared at Hawthorn.... Alder's eyes widened, his limbs seemed to tingle and the hair on the back of his neck stiffened and there was a heat in his chest that rose up into his face. Don't talk to him like that! Alder yelled back at the wolf who smelled fowl like he hadn't bathed in months. The stallion pawed the hard ground and lifted his head, the wolf let go of the rope that connected them and glared at the gray male with hard blue eyes. He had never been so angry in all his life.
