The smell of the cooking venison had danced through the pup’s nose for only a moment before its enticing scent lured her back towards the house, where Jaden cooked. She’d never smelt cooking meat and though it carried an alien hint it made her mouth water without control. She couldn’t imagine what it tasted like and was eager to return to her friend. Upon hearing her real name her pace quickened even more and it wasn’t a second after Jaden finished his last second that she appeared from the shadows.
“No, no! I’m kommen (coming)!” Verloren yipped in her usual flat accent as she neared the fire, a high bounce to her trot. However, she jerked to the side when a cherry spark fluttered past her, a thin line of smoke trailing behind it. She had yet to get used to fire, having had it engrained to be a frightful thing. The houses and streets were also among the many things she was relearning.
Taking a long look into the distance she studied the human remnants littering what was once a wild land. She didn’t really think as much as she just stared, taking in the sights. But, she quickly turned her attention back to Jaden, and more interestingly, the deer meat.
“Wvhy do du Koch (cook) it?” she questioned after seating herself near the opposite side of the fire. Her dark golden eyes intently scanning over the meat, while her ears danced along with the flames.
