He twitched and flinched, and she was close to withdrawing her hand. But he didn’t cringe away either, and his reaction could consist of surprise. It was sad that she didn’t know whether or not he wanted her near. In many ways, these two hybrids didn’t know each other at all. Russet ears lightly leaned against silky, auburn locks as she wondered how she could fail to realize that the male suffered from low self esteem. Halo wouldn’t have expected it. Cotl was strange and exotic in many ways, and while he didn’t match the norms, it didn’t make him less intriguing.

Audits stirred at the words he spoke, and as so often, her mind struggled to make sense of the thick flow of foreign words. But years with Cotl had made her brighter, and while she wouldn’t always understand what he said, she usually caught what was important, and she understood and wondered about the words that now were being spoken. His life seemed much more successful than hers, so if he was a piece of shit, then what was Halo? Lips tightened at the thought of it, but this wasn’t about her. Now, she picked up a harmonic smile instead, and she slowly shook her head as he continued.

She did care, she knew.

It seemed he wanted to have it all, but Halo had learned that one couldn’t plan that way and remain happy. She could be wrong, but she only knew how life had treated her. The Triarii failed to understand why he needed to hold onto someone that wasn’t good for him. ”You don’t need her,” she said, voice strengthened with some resolve. He really didn’t, and she didn’t want him to stay with that unfaithful bitch anyway. Talitha deserved nothing whatsoever, and Cotl wasn’t the piece of shit he seemed to think he was. ”And what does Talitha give you that’s so invaluable?” the Lykoi asked with a raised eyebrow. Pain and misery? Did anyone need that?

Ruby eyes remained on his face, adoring the intriguing hues of his eyes. He could do so much better.

Your faith walks on broken glass

Halo Lykoi
