The run in with Alder had left Cypress a little shaken, though it was not the bitter defeat to his brother that troubled him most. Oh, but he was bitter and he would not admit to Alder or anyone else that he had been wrong in going to Gabriel. While it had not proved to be the most hopeful it was better that sitting around and doing nothing. Just waiting, while nothing was as it should be. Anu was not home as he hoped and the peaceful lands of his home had been tainted. Cast in the shadow of war. Cypress could not understand what the tribe wanted from them. While he knew it was the Utina’s that they had been after, but surely that’s not all there was to all this. What drove individuals to war, to hate and discriminate. His father too had spoken of war and the hardships that the coyote clan had faced that lead to their prejudices. The concept of unconditional hate was so foreign to him. It was not how Anu had thought her sons to view the world. He could understand small skirmishes for he was no stranger to anger. Yet the only time he had ever felt it boil to the point were he felt capable of truly harming another had been the night he watched his mother being dragged away by the black faced monster.

His thoughts had enveloped him as he stared out over the familiar waters that he had so greatly missed in the few days he had been gone. He had hoped to find happiness and light here. Like that which he had known the year of his birth. Winter had brought so many hardships to his pack and just when it felt they had been able to shed the pain that had come with the storm, Artemis’ fall and Denali’s death they were now cast into an unprovoked war. Would things ever truly get better? His thoughts were interrupted as a boisterous voice called out, bringing a smile to his face before he had even turned to face the silver princess. There was an odd flutter in his gut, though he had learned to ignore the slight feeling and he was suddenly aware that like the lake, he had also missed Artemis in the few days he had been gone. But as he faced her, his smile faltered and she did not look so pleased to see him as she glared at him with her hands on her hips and like an idiot Cypress just looked at her confused, unable to recognize her concern for him for what it was. ”Hi, Missa. I went to see my father.” He said rather simply for he had multiple reasons for making the trip to Inferni. ”Is something wrong?” he asked as his expression grew a little concerned. Thinking that something must be bothering her but too dense to realize that his unannounced departure might have had anything to do with it.
