M - Epic Fail

There was a reason for the silence. Salvia had been out, as was usual, and while her plans to hunt had been ruined by the rain a far more interesting target had appeared. She had seen him from the distance, a reddish-brown thing that reeked of Inferni. Had she been her father, she would have killed him instantly. However, she was not as large as that Goliath and while she was growing constantly, her inexperience with true combat made her wary. Sirius had long ago enforced the idea she was not immortal.

So she had stalked after him, moving with the stealth-footed pace she had learned from the hunting cat. Every part of Salsola was known to her now; she could avoid fallen branches and noisy leaves if there was a need. The rain made her task simple. The big coyote was noisy and even had the gall to cause a commotion because of birds. Irritation grew under her skin. Along her back blonde-black fur rose and puffed out her wolfish body, turning her into a sizeable looking thing.

The stranger was wounded. She had seen that and not gone for her father or Sirius because of such a thing. She would do this alone and prove herself worthy of her home’s defense. Without making a sound, the she-wolf rushed from the underbrush and snapped at the stranger’s haunch. If she could cripple him, this would be fun.
