The proverb about size and falling was true, and Vesper could release no more than a squeak as the larger woman’s weight collapsed on her. However, it was no different than her Aquila—except that there was a lack of a certain vulnerable point she could strike. Her confidence in this position showed, however, and while squirming in hopes of freeing herself, the coywolf clawed upward in an attempt to strike the vulnerable underside of her mentor. Her blows were careful, of course, and would do no more than perhaps claw out fur, but it was one way that she could keep her opponent from striking while she was preoccupied with avoiding pain.
