While the scarlet of her eyes didn’t disguise the appreciation she found for his appearance, she was truly looking for visuals flaws to judge him. She recognized arrogance because they both held their head high despite putting each other off, and his confidence was as difficult to detect as her own, meaning it was plain to see. Appearance and behaviour said much about an individual if keen eyes knew where to look. It didn’t necessarily put her off. Halo adored being shown the respect she deserved—or thought she did—but it wasn’t mandatory for her to chew through the face of a person that carried himself with worth. If the man was splendid, then he was allowed to let the rest of the world know. She couldn’t fault him for that, because she carried herself in a similar manner, even before the Aquila. Some things just couldn’t be changed.

Irritation was revealed in narrowed eyes of a darker red than hers. In response, she allowed her smile to increase, and the expression in her eyes adjusted to suit the smile, in a manner that could easily be named seductive. Was this a nerve she had managed to step on? And so soon. She didn’t wish to get on his bad side so soon, but perhaps that was the direction of which she was heading. If so, perhaps she should thread more warily. He didn’t answer her question successfully, but she could ask Helotes the next time they sparred. Or perhaps he had, though the woman wasn’t aware that their mother too had followed in her children’s footprints. At least she had learned his name. In return, he could of course get hers. How rude of her not to have introduced herself sooner.

Palms sought together in her lap. ”I’m Halo Lykoi, the Triarii of the Clan.” It wasn’t necessary for her to include her rank, but she wanted him to know that he could come to her if he wished. There were few things she liked more than to work with individuals worthy of her time. Clearly, she adored the way he held himself. The confidence to dare to reveal his irritation so quickly, but the required control to stay within the lines of what was considered.. polite? ”So, do you like it here so far, Columbine?” And again, the devious smile turned sweeter than what was necessary. He didn’t have to like her for her to like him though. Hybrid Holocaust had probably never approved of her, but he had won her respect several times over, just by being the warrior bastard he was. But now, he was gone.

Your faith walks on broken glass

Halo Lykoi
