This had become strange and disconcerting indeed. Now Terra was reading the future, or pretending to - Caspa wouldn't put it past her. There was no other explanation, unless she'd been listening to gossip. The old wolf didn't smell of ill health or even decrepit. She wanted to ask her ever-surprising companion where she was getting her ideas from this time, but something inside her preferred to put up a united front in front of the stranger - perhaps a deep instinctive pack-loyalty of some kind, or just her version of friendship: unquestioning faithfulness to the end. The white hound did, however, prefer to change the subject. Macarius was looking rather askance, and she could understand why. First she'd shown opposition to him and been announced as a destroyer of darkness - actually, she rather liked that - and now the flame-coated woman had told him that he was dying. Caspa was quite amazed at the things some claimed to believe. There was no way to see the future, or hear the stars. Perhaps this was a story, that they were all conspiring to make, and none of them actually believed the things they were saying. Whatever was going on, it was time to move the story forward, away from the macabre direction it had taken. "Any other weapons in your tea cup, Macarius?" she asked in an ominous sort of voice, mostly because she disapproved of the words coming out of her own mouth and could not believe she was playing along.
