Kiara had always felt that her hunting skills were enough, that she never need to learn how to fight or defend herself. Yet, the incident with Amy had drastically changed her mind. At X'yrin's request she had agreed to learn self defense from the nomad's mate Saluce. Although, truth be told, Kiara really didn't need a lot of convincing on the matter. The young wolf had met Saluce once or twice before, but both times were in passing so she never got the chance to get to know the male. Although they were pack mates Kiara didn't know a lot about him, just that he was her best friend's mate.

Shortly after Shiloh and Sarian's departure, Kiara had moved out of their house and into the Wentworth Valley, subsequently becoming "neighbors" with X'yrin and Saluce. Although, the den site she had picked out was close to a stream nearly a quarter mile away from her friend's home. Kiara's change in location was obvious to anyone who spotted the white wolf. Her coat was slightly dirty due to her digging in dirt and sleeping in her den, which was nearly complete. Her paws were the worst as they were almost a light brown. She also smelled heavily of the forest, but Alonso's scent had fully disappeared from her coat by that time.

The other change that Kiara didn't realize what that she was a week pregnant, although she had yet to show it physically. What the young wolf had noticed was that she had become a little irritable, a little abject, and her major loss in appetite. Kiara was beginning to worry if she was sick. Not only was she eating less, half of the things she tried to eat were doomed to be regurgitated later on. Her sudden change in appetite had begun to show as well. Her movements were slower due to her lack of energy and she looked slightly thinner than before. Although, the weight loss was difficult to see due to all of her fur and naturally bulky body.

Kiara had set out shortly after midday to take the quarter mile hike to X'yrin's den. It wasn't long before she arrived. Truth be told, the young wolf was nervous. It wasn't that she didn't know Saluce, it was that she didn't know how to fight and didn't want to be seen as weak. Kiara never felt like her inability to shift was a disability, but she thought that some might see it that way. Hopefully, Saluce would be like X'yrin, Shiloh, and Vesper who didn't think her as disabled or helpless.
