No prior expectations were held for his receptiveness and yet she found herself glad for his open show of friendship. Too few of their kind regarded each other as their forbearers had done; a ‘hello’ performed rather than spoken allowing the state of the form as opposed to a tone of voice to convey their true feelings. The female had learned that words were deceptive and could be made to be more so, a modern invention that tended to bring about trouble and rouse suspicions.

But a touch, a flick of the tail, or even the subtle quirk of a brow was far more audible, and better still was harder to conceal one’s true feelings. Anyone could mask misery with a cheery tune, but hardly any could disguise true sadness on their face. And there was none to be shown on hers, only content coupled with a growing excitement that lit her eyes.

His touch was met with a contented growl as well as a purposefully nudge by her shoulder into his. It wasn’t meant to harm, but to shift his ground a little and test the waters of this well-met encounter before wading further out from the shallows. Her muzzle swept down to grace his cheek in a sign of endearment with the chilled flesh of her nose burying into the warmth of his scruff. Her vocals reverberated with a playful growl as she again raised her paw to his flank to entice as response of the like before suddenly withdrawing from the dark fur all together.

Her mood remained as it was, very light and merry, but her form did not. Rarely did she take on the weaker of her four-legged forms, but on the occasions she did she always felt that much lighter and brimming with energy. A substantial amount of mass was lost in the shift but her body retained its lengthy limbs as well as its pronounced curvature. Regardless of form, there was a single absolute that was a natural gift by the ancestors; a large frame and ample thickness accented by the tastefully placed subtle (or less than) hints of her gender. Her auburn locks were still in cascades of madness spilling along her front despite her futile efforts to toss them back from her eyes. And most importantly, she was still elated and now bubbly with unspent energy.

She tested the newly set bone and muscles with a deep bow before the Dawn Alpha. Her tail remained high and waving, taunting the male with a yet to be captured flag as she inched forward and padded playfully at the ground tossing minute flakes of snow into the air.
