They had come a long long way since their first meeting so many months ago when her children were still small and helpless -though to her they were still small and helpless- and the golden woman had first asked her why she felt the love she did. From then their friendship had flourished and grown stronger until Jace had almost considered X'yrin her Wourenyla, her Heart Sister. She had been happy for the Nomad when she had been promoted beyond Jace into the sub-leader and then up into leader when Nayru and Razekiel had failed them. But now... now Jace could hardly think of the woman without anger and bitterness distorting her mind. It was still fresh and burned with a savage intensity, Jace fully believed that X'yrin had been in the wrong with what she had done to herself and Saluce though she had apparently revoked the decision shortly thereafter and it was only at the provocation of the rest of the pack that she had done so.
A younger and more friendlier Jace would have lamented the loss of another friend, would have mourned and suffered for the lack of it but she was not that young creature she had once been, not the same person that had stepped up to Phoenix Valley borders and called with Temo to join. Her dual eyes narrowed within their brown surroundings and frost seemed to echo out from them, she was a cold and ultimately dead being at this moment. She had no love to share nor any warmth to give, least of all to X'yrin.
The three of them, herself X'yrin and the newest member Fatin were on their way towards confrontation with the ones who had invaded Ichika and sought to take what was not theirs. A captive had been seized and now they were here to negotiate the terms of release. It was with a grim expression that Jace observed her surroundings.
