Echo's quiet presence behind her was acknowledged with a brief nod as she traversed through the books. Unfortunately they hadn't been well protected from the environment, a broken window bringing moisture. Mold had formed, gluing them together for the most part. A few were salvageable, including a book with a picture of vehicles on the front and another one with no pictures and words that made no sense even to the highly civilized wolf, titled The Universe in a Nutshell. Well, someone would be interested in them. Amy found that the wolves who had just learned how to read swallowed any books down, even useless ones like these.
Raoth sprang forwards hands clenching to wrap around Echo's neck. A snarl broke from his throat, catching Amy's attention. The books were dropped into her pack and her sword drawn, prepared for whatever threat there was. Seeing that it was just the two slaves in an argument Amy leaned back. She'd let them sort it out. Amy wasn't interested in stepping in unless someone's life was threatened. Then Amy would quite willingly carve into whoever's flesh had threatened to remove her slave.
