Drift away from all these city lights, Might rock a little bit, So hold on tight.
Word Count :: +3! just...yawn. boring post, anyone up for skinning stuff?

The large basket full of dead vermin that Dixie had brought up to the fort earlier had gotten a bit warm inside the court house’s doors. When she approached and smelled the scent coming from it, a soft curse broke from her mouth and she snatched the basket up quickly, running outside and towards the small creek near the back of the fort. The carcasses needed to cool off before they spoiled, and then she needed to skin them rather fast after that.

Once she got to the creek, the fluffy white woman dropped to her knees and dunked the entire basket into the freezing water. Little bits of dirt, blood and fur floated up from inside and spilled out into the water, attracting some fish to the surface. Dixie’s head tilted to the side and she watched them with immense curiosity, wondering how hard it would be to catch the relatively small fish. Reaching out, she slipped one arm into the water…and then promptly snatched it back out. Too cold!

Huffing in frustration, she pulled the heavier, waterlogged basket up out of the water and shook it a bit before turning and heading back to the main square. There is where she’d skin them and begin to set the meat out to dry. Sighing softly, she tossed the load down onto the ground and grabbed a large stick that was lying near a tree off to the side. The thing had a forked base, which she stuck into the ground and leaned over. This way she’d be able to drape meat strips over it to let the sun cook it out.

Sitting down in the sun, she smiled happily and slipped her knife from the thigh sheath, grabbed a rabbit from the basket and began sliding the blade beneath the skin. It’d take a while to get all seven rabbits and twelve squirrels chopped up, but she’d do it without a fuss.
