Zalen was very still, like he waited on bated breath, as the young female pulled herself from the waters and shook. The droplets fanned around her and caught the light of the sun, making her glow for an instant. And that scent, that heady scent! Zalen swooned, and had to lift a paw and slam it to the ground quickly to keep himself from falling. She said his name then, and he looked at her, into those honey eyes.
Zalen raised his head, and puffed out his fur, and took on the visage of a strong and majestic stallion of a wolf, and a long, low growl came from his chest. He wanted her to swoon over him as he did her, he wanted her to treat him the way she did Augustus, the way she had when she had first gone into heat. Whatever grip on reality that Zalen had was slowly slipping away as his excitement mounted at the prospect of mating with this exquisite creature.
But Titania, what of Titania? His mind was suddenly a battlefield, the instinctual side of his full of the fire of copulation, while the other side cried out for his mate. Why could Titania not be this way? Why was it taking her so long to bloom? Was it he? Was he not masculine enough to bring out the Alphess’ femininity?
