From the panic and terror that painted the young female's face before, a kind of calm replaced whatever tracing lingered as the drank from the lake. And such a calm was reflected upon the autumn female as she patiently waited for the small jackal to have her fill. Rarely did she cross paths with a creature of this type, but she knew of them from her travels. Small and deceptively quick, though their personalities as a whole she could not account for. Just as there were many variations of sentient beings in this world, so did she believe there to be as infinite as personalities. But some traits for a species were hard to ignore. Certainly her kind was not this skittish and frightful, but was the result of an unimaginable wrong that had been inflicted. If only she knew, if she could understand… then perhaps she could help in some way.

Surrounded by the stillness of night, her heart about leapt from her chest as again the young girl went into terrified cries. The girl was on her feet in an instant running from some unknown assailant, but met the ground painfully soon after. The Nomad had been watching the water in the midst of her thoughts and hadn’t seen another other than their own reflections on the surface. What disturbed its placid façade was nothing more than the smooth strokes of the fish beneath its surface gliding to a fine each without breeching into the cool air. There was none but the two of them…no one at all.

Never the less, the wolf was on her feet and running after the girl, reaching her just as she tripped. “Young one!” she exclaimed, having no other name to call her by. Swiftly she swept the girl into her arms again, maternal instinct flaring at the sight of the injured and frightened. “There are none but us,” softly, she tried to coax this truth into her. “There is no other. Please… tell me who you believe is here? Who frightens you like this?”
