The cat looked at him as if he had just said something idiotic. A flush of embarrassment rode through Tharin as the cat studied him. He wasn't stupid, he just didn't know how to deal with this. A talking cat? Such a thing had never occurred to him before. Why would one talk? Why hadn't he met one before? Why was the world so much different than what he had believed it to be like? Having the question turned back on him confused Tharin even more. How was he supposed to answer that?
Tharin carefully thought over the question before hitting on what he thought was a brilliant answer. He opened his mouth to speak, only to be confronted with a more confusing problem. Tharin had never really thought about why he could talk before. It was just something that he did. He didn't talk as much as the two leggers, communicating more with his body than anything else, but he could talk. I'm not sure...
