Hotaru approached the river with a sense of urgency and worry. The blind and heavily pregnant female was more than ready to fight off any intruder or foe that Terra might be facing. What greeted her instead was a frightened little coy wolf, who nuzzled her wet muzzle against Hotaru. The grey wolf returned Terra's affection, but confusion was spread across her features. Terra felt tense, and her tone of voice made Hotaru worry. Terra, the normally resilient and headstrong female, was scared stiff. What could have scared Terra so badly?
Terra's words struck Hotaru like a ton of bricks. An injured packmate. The subject was a sensitive one for the blind female, her own experiences on the subject far too numerous. Her birth pack had been slaughtered and shortly after joining d'Arte there had been a betrayal and a puppy killing. Hotaru's entire body tensed and her lips pulled back slightly into a half grimace. Painful memories flooded her mind, making her angry. In her pregnant state, Hotaru showed a lot more of her true feelings than normal. "Have you been injured?"
The coy wolf's comment made the blind wolf take an inquisitive sniff. Terra was pregnant? THe coincidence was too good to be true. "It would seem so. We have many things to catch up on, and perhaps many things to do in the future. How far along are you?"
