Limping back it wasn't long before Kiara claimed her place at his side once more. She belonged there, as much as anyone else did. Picturing her going elsewhere, standing next to someone else, was an odd thought. The movement was slow, despite the fact that he hadn't gone very far. The useless attempts at patrolling would have to stop. Tharin might be able to fight without letting his wounds effect him for a few seconds, but after that he'd be forced to halt.
His frame shuddered, wincing as Kiara's tongue flicked gently over one of the wounds. It wasn't something he could stop, naturally recoiling from anything that touched it. Even something gentle had him pulling away, whether or not it actually hurt. At least all this care meant that his wounds were clean. He wouldn't be dying of infection. Sorry? For stopping me? I have to heal. His words were logical, missing out on whatever guilt she was feeling.
Family comes first.
