She would have recognized the voice anywhere, though it had changed a little bit since she'd seen him last. It sounded like it belonged to a wolf older than she knew Conri to be, all soft and crackly...at first, she hadn't even been sure if it had been anything that she had heard at all or if she was just making it up. There had been days when she had thought that she'd heard him before this, but it hadn't been true. She didn't miss him, but his voice was so familiar that it made her more curious than anything else.

Nanko sniffed at the ground a little, trying to pick up his scent, to see if, this time, what she was hearing might be real. It did smell like Conri, but at the same time it didn't smell like him at all. His scent felt warped. She took a glance back to the pups, beckoning for them to come closer to her, and spoke. "Whoever's out there...you should come out into the open." She wasn't afraid. Now she knew that she was strong enough that if something did happen, she would be able to handle it.
