Swallow and let it slide

indent Icarus blinked his blue eyes, looking up at the scenery surrounding him. By leaping from his icy spot on the river, he had landed flat on his stomach. The snow on the ground had begun to melt in some places, but it still left him dusted on his underside. Picking himself up to all paws, Icarus shook himself off and let the glittering snow fall back towards the ground. That wasn’t so bad – the other side would be just as easy.

indent Walking the few meters to the other side of the island, Icarus surveyed the shores to see where the smallest gap between banks actually was. If some area was easier to jump from, why not go for it? After all, he didn’t want to accidentally fall in. Looking down, Icarus placed one paw outwards, touching the smooth icy surface. Once again, he could tell that beneath water was moving by the bubbles that wiggled below.

indent For a moment, he had thought that it was the ice below him that was beginning to splinter, but upon further inspection, realized that it was actually further up the river where the ice had gave in. A pup a little larger than him was pulling itself backwards out of the ice, and bounding down this way. Maybe that meant it wasn’t safe enough to cross yet. But then again, this wolf did look bigger than Icarus was. "Hey you!" He called out, leaving it at that for lack of better words.
