I know!

He smiled at her, and Anu truly looked at him for the first time. The light stormy color of his coat, the bright sky eyes, the dangling hoops that hung from his ear all made her scan her gaze over him more then once. The Brigadier wasn’t sure why, but her smile grew as he looked at her. Perhaps it was the liquor or maybe it was the small touch against her knee, but her face grew warm and she couldn’t help but let a small laugh fall from her burning lips.

Fingers again to the narrow neck Anu grasped it tightly, not letting go until the sand held its reducing weight. The burn was less, and the buzz of her head intensified. Her jaw grew slack letting the cool air in to turn the fire to ice. Letting her weight fall against the night-chilled beach she held herself up with an elbow, matching his stance. At least at this moment. She wouldn’t deny him the role of fool at this second, but she would look like one in the morning (at the latest).

Eyeing the drink between them Anu gave a lazy nod, Yes. Her answer was made of steel as it drifted to his ears. Why she needed it was a tornado in her heart, the reasons where enough to make her dive nose first into each of the handles that were scattered around them. Still, there was a sense of peace is taking her time. Savoring each drop, each burning painful swig. Your heart broken too, or is it your pride? She enjoyed teasing him, her smile back and hanging loosely on her lips.
