There were some creatures out there that were so fucking nuts that they couldn't control themselves. It seemed like this man had at least some element of control in him. After all, he wasn't trying to attack Onus. At least not now. Not this time. If he knew he was investigating the murder then he had to have at least some inkling of what he was. Maybe he took some morbid amusement from having a man dedicated to justice around and wanted to clear the playing field of other competitors. Such actions would make sense to a mind like this.
