Hemming absent-mindedly ran his thumb across the rough flat surface of his tool as she spoke, nodding his head a bit more obviously when she mentioned Dawali. "Ah, that's what I would have expected. Wartime is much more exciting for you, then." He laughed gently. "Are there a lot of wars around here? I'm not familiar with all the packs yet, or how they interact." It was something that he had been curious about. Hemming had felt quite safe as he wandered, but it could simply be naivety that kept him from keeping up his guard.

The lands around here were surprisingly densely populated, supporting quite a few packs. Hemming wouldn't be able to guess at the actual number, but he had picked up quite a few different scents on his walks. It was unlikely they all got along all of the time. It would be a nice thing, though Catherine wouldn't get much excitement.
