She felt like she was going to pass out or throw up, and she didn't know which one was going to come first. She hoped that the passing out would. The crazed, injured whelp whipped her head about, looking at the adults that were gathered around her. They were trying to help, but she was so afraid. She didn't know what else to do other than call for Jefferson. He always made her feel better, no matter what was happening, and she knew that he would help her. He was always there.

Then he was there. He got the trap off of her foot and an all new kind of pain came then, a great pounding that seemed to travel all the way up to her small head. She was so glad to see him, and felt such relief, though, through it all. She gave him a bright smile. It was only a few more moments before her body gave into the shock, though, as blood began to pool and drip into the sling that he had wrapped around her paw now that the pressure had been removed, and she passed out.
