Devil's playground

The two coyote pups introduced themselves, and seemed to be alright, now that all of the danger was behind them. The lad seemed had come around, and short of the language-switching, the girl seemed fine. The exchange that followed was a decidedly odd one. The girl, Empusa, was very polite to him, but she was also quite open about how the two of them should put some distance between themselves and the wolf who had pulled them out of the building. There's some gratitude for you, he thought for a moment, before banishing the thought. These two were only children, and they were being raised with the same prejudices that their forebears had possessed. It wasn't their fault, and the fact was, it was probably best that they not trust wolves. In the atmosphere of hate that the coyote queen had created, there were probably wolves out there who would permit harm to come to them, if not cause that harm themselves.

The mention of Gabriel shouldn't have been surprising, but it was. When he'd first fought with the young male, the Lykoi-son been fresh out of pup-hood, not even two years old and already raring to go at it with the wolves of the surrounding packs. He'd already gone abroad and involved himself in some trouble independent from his clan, or so the old wolf heard. That's an early start down a dark road, he thought, but he didn't know whether leadership over a pack would help or hurt that path. One way or the other, the young male was more stable than his mother had been, so it was better for everyone that Inferni answered to him. At least, so far. Skoll knew that he was more rational than Kaena, but his aggression at the helm was yet to be seen.

"No, he probably wouldn't. If you two are okay to walk, you'd best get moving back to Inferni. Be ready to do some explaining though, since showing up all banged up with a wolf's scent on you probably won't go over well with your leader." He didn't know what the coyotes called their alpha, but leader worked in lieu of a title. As for the kids, he'd stick around long to make sure they got to their feet before leaving to conclude his own business in the jungle.
