Soothing sounds of the droplets carried away the female’s disease for being cold, wet, and as always, hungry, bringing a sort of comforting veil to allow her to rest. Not often was she permitted this pleasure but in light of the circumstance, there was not much choice but to suffer this vacation and turn her mind to better things as the rain continued to pound on her refuge. Oddly enough, the patter grew louder, escalating to sound stomps on the earthen floor and increased in volume, enough so to disturb her doze and bring her back to the water present. The rhythm of the rain had not changed she noted, yet still the volume of the pounding grew louder until she felt the earth tremble beneath her lain muzzle.

Zynex looked out through the sheets, eyes wide with alarm as the torrents began to move unnaturally, bending as a shadow parted from them and came to stand nigh of her escape from the rain. A towering figure stood towards the entrance, shining with not one, but two pairs of eyes, one creature on top the other. Was she dreaming? Was this some trick her mind concocted to show her to instill fear? In the waning light, she thought to have seen something out of place. A hoofed animal with a lupine on its back, astride it as confidently as the humans of the past would their mighty animals. But this was a wolf! But calling him so was more than she could stay.

The she-wolf recoiled further into her hole, keeping her eyes on the formidable figures of both the curse wolf and his steed. What twist of nature allowed this unnatural order, riding on the back of an animal to be eaten? Her ears perked up as the braided wolf spoke above the pouring rain, inquiring her intentions. The tip of her nose poked from within her hole, twitching frequently as it was spat on. She answered with a quiet, “Yes.”
