In Character

It was not often that Sicarus was confronted with his own weakness so blatantly—there were few he associated with to begin with, and generally he acted so damn brotherly toward those he did consider worthy of his attentions they would hardly stoop to point out the tawny wolf's flaws. The strange creature now circling about him in an aggressive manner was almost a stranger from the canine Sicarus had met just moments before; the tawny-furred wolf hardly knew what to make of this canine now facing him down. The other canine's words were more than enough to spur Sicarus to rage, and he petulantly crossed his arms again, folding them tightly against his chest and growling softly in his chest.

"I don't know about you," Sic sniffed, leveling his orange-yellow gaze at the Gazon, pausing to add emphasis to his words. "But I don't have a mother," he said, crowing over this fact as if it were a jewel in his crown. As the basis for his beliefs, it pretty much was—there was nothing more important to Sicarus than staying free of the taints of womanhood, and lacking a mother was the foremost thing in this. It occurred to Sic suddenly that the other canine might just be implying he had a mother. This was enough to send him to rigidity for a moment, the hair rising along his spine. "I really don't have a mother," he said, protesting as if Kai had actually verbalized the insult.

The implied insult prodded and twisted at Sicarus's innards until he jerked visibly, staggering into motion once more and whirling around to take off after the other wolf's hindquarters, fluid after that moment of freezing up. He didn't have a mother, he never had a mother, and he'd make damn sure prove it to this jerk. How dare he imply that Sicarus de Ericeto came from woman?
