In Character

There had never been a real need for his Optime form while living in the wild. In fact, Kai didn’t really know what the purpose of having it would be. His pack had been living much like wolves, aside from his mother, brother, and one or two others. His mother only used the form because she felt it made her pretty, though Kai had found nothing appealing about her constant primping and desperate flirting. This had rubbed off on his brother, who was just as awkward and just as fussy when it came to keeping his white fur clean. Kai had always taken a particular joy in “accidentally” getting mud (and sometimes, a lot of mud) in his brother’s fur. He had been very proud of managing to dye it green last summer with the help of some algae. Until then, he had never known a boy could scream as high as that.

Fortunately, Kai was neither primped nor proper, and had only his base instincts and a lack of concern when it came to anything more. He wanted to survive and he wanted to be someone special. Outside of that, he cared less about the scars on his haunches (they were badges of courage now, gained from fighting off THREE coyotes out for blood) and it didn’t matter to him if snow or dirt got in his fur. It was just fur, after all. He wasn’t looking for a girl, having been raised with the tradition that the alpha alone had the right to breed. Haku was the best candidate for siring children, as opposed to a two year old whom had never touched a girl romantically, much less took one to bed. But it wasn’t about feeling good, it was about survival, right? At least, he thought it was.

Under his butt the darker wolf began to squirm furiously, but his arms were extended peculiarly and pinned under Kai’s eighty some pounds. He tilted his head doggishly and narrowed his eyes, knowing he was sitting atop a time bomb. While he did not fully believe Sic would actually attack him, he did not wish to take the chance. “Hey, hey. Settle,” he said firmly, frowning deeply. “I’m just fooling around. S’nothing personal, Sic.” And it wasn’t. He had no problem with Sicarus—especially now that he had proven himself the mightier of the two, even if it was through surprise and childish aggravation.
