Toliy-face! 503

Ehno had satisfied those fatherly worries by stopping by Phoenix Valley for a few days to check in on his little ones. It had brightened his mood considerably to find that his children were all still so happy and healthy. The threat of the nearby Dahlia-Inferni war still bothered him greatly, and he knew that this would be one of many trips he would be making to the Valley pack lands until he could be assured that the conflict was over. On the bright side, he could look at it as if it was another excuse to allow him to make the trip to see the four puppies, but he wished the excuse could be a more pleasant one. He loved to be able to go out there to visit them and Naniko, but he did not like that he would be worrying about their safety quite often. Regardless, spending some time with his little family had allowed some of those worrisome thoughts to fade away. Spending time with the pups always brightened his day. They were growing up so quickly and each time he went to visit him they seemed much bigger than the last.

The man had said his goodbyes and began his departure from the Valley lands that afternoon. He shouldered his small travelling bag, heavy with his usual trinkets and small amount of supplies, and took to the now-incredibly familiar path back to Crimson Dreams. A short journey through the lands would bring him to the city of Halifax and once he got through there it would be a straight shot out to his own pack lands. Usually the male would make a few stops along his path through the concrete jungle, but he would be making no such stops this time. As intriguing as the city was to the adventurous carpenter, he knew that dithering about for long right now would do him no good. These were turbulent times and he could not afford to keep his pack waiting or worrying for him. There would be much for him to do when he returned to the land of Dreamers.

The Italian man adapted a brisk pace as he travelled along through the woods. The slightly worn path was familiar to him and he hardly seemed to pay attention as he ventured forward. The temperatures were still quite cold, a thing to be expected with the land so deep in winter’s grasp. The trees were covered with a light dusting of snow, the product of the brief snowfall from the day before. The clouds above were a light gray in hue, plump with even more snow. It seemed that they would be getting more snow during the coming night, but for now the air was clear and crisp with winter’s breath. Ehno examined the scenery with amber eyes as he traveled, a content smile on his features. It was so serene out here that he could forget for just a moment that blood was being shed only miles away.
