Nayati stalked carefully after the herd of deer. They seemed to all be fairly strong and healthy, though he knew there had to be at least one among their ranks that was old or injured. Whenever possible he tried not to cull any prey that were of the new generation unless it appeared that they would not survive anyway. It was a horrible shame to kill anything young and the AniWayan avoided it at all costs. His pale gaze was like that a raptor, scrutinizing his targets for any sign of weakness and assessing the situation to see which way to proceed would be best. He was glad that they were moving at a fairly leisurely pace so he could keep up with them and retain his stealth. If they had been moving faster it would have been nearly impossible to keep his movements quiet. The wind was also working with him, blowing his scent away from the sharp-hoofed animals.

Suddenly his keen nose picked up another scent though that was clearly not deer. Nayati paused and was still as a statue for a minute or two. It was definitely another wolf, and not from the tribe. His head swiveled, eyes trying to locate what his nose had already sensed. He could catch no glimpse of another canine however. The man's brows knit together, frustrated that he could not locate the other. Nayati would have to be extra careful now though. The other stalker might not be friendly, especially since they were probably going after the same herd of deer. Of course there were plenty in the group, but there might not be enough lame or old animals to go around. The Tsisdu Kanati took his bow back up and nocked an arrow, prepared to defend himself if need be.

It wasn't long after he was moving forward again that he heard movement behind him. The hairs on the back of his neck rose but he continued to stalk after the deer, wanting the canine behind him to think that he had not noticed their movement. If they thought him ignorant they would underestimate him and that would only work to his advantage. The other wolf closed the distance between them and his muscles tensed, his right hand pulling back on the bowstring. The voice he heard was unexpected though, female, and he turned his head to look upon her. It was strange to see a wolf in the form she wore, for not many he had seen or knew used it. It would be good for hunting if you had no weapons though. What caught him most was the fact that she was clearly talking about Onawa. To her, it was odd to see a cougar nearby, even alarming, but to Nayati it was the most common thing in the world. A friendly smile curved his lips and he eased up on the tension of his bow. "I know, she is my Guide. She is almost always with me. There is nothing to fear," he answered in an equally soft tone to avoid alerting the herd to their presence.
