Colibri inhaled deeply, her expression dreamy as she felt a light breeze kiss her upturned face. The worst of winter had passed; no longer did the cold feel bitter or sharp beneath her fur. Patches of grass were visible in some places, muddy and worn, but hopeful for the sun's rays. It brought an energy to her, an anticipation for the oncoming season. Crimson Dreams was a beautiful place during the summer; she could vividly remember the flowers of Rabbit Lake and the scented boughs of the apple orchard. This year, though, she had a right to be here. She would be able to contribute, to lend her only talent and make a mark on the landscape.
The slender werewolf pulled her head back in through the window, blinking to readjust her sight to the dim indoors. She felt a playfulness coming on, something the new season brought out in her. Now that the curtain of fear and uncertainty had receded, she felt such happiness welling in her chest, hope for her future together with Anu. She had received no news of the war brushing their borders, no threats against them, and it had begun to slip her mind. Meeting Savina lent her security as well, seeing what a level-headed and wise mother this pack had at their head. Yes, they were safe here, and everything was going to be all right for the first time in her life.
"Anu, would you like to go outside with me?" she asked brightly, tail stub stirring behind her. Her blue eyes were already gazing out the window again, strongly drawn to the thawing world. Surely everyone must be as moved by nature's energy... it was an inexorable pull, a biological need to leave her winter den and explore. Her silken mane had grown long during the colder months; perhaps it was time to shear it short again, another small change to go along with the changing climate. "It's already getting warmer...!"
