The redhead let a finger hover over the strange layered surface of the painting, afraid to touch it in case it were still wet. It was something that he would never be able to do, having learned fast that anything with real shading and coloring inside the lines was where his skill drew the line. He was not complaining, oh no, he was just marveling at what Mati could do, as he was in the habit of doing since she started painting his room. There was something about how painting worked that was so admirable. So much emotion seemed to go into some of these pieces, though sometimes it seemed as though it was just hovering under the surface of the acrylics.
Mati hesitated when she answered and Strel knew that there was significantly more to it than what the woman told him. He let it drop for the moment, wondering if it was a delicate subject for the Church woman to face. Strel moved from the painting slightly unwillingly, namely because he wanted to press his friend about this Cambria girl more. The way it sounded to him was that Cambria and Mati either had fought recently and now were struggling to figure out what was going on in their friendship. Or it could have been that the friendship they were heading towards was not even something friendship could describe. Yet, the redhead did not think it appropriate of him to press further if her tone had been like that.
But since when was Strel a master at being tactful?
He turned, leaning against the table on his palms as he crossed one leg over the other. He had a smirk on his face, shifting his own lavender eyes at Mati's similar toned ones. "Cambria, huh? She looks cute," he started, the look never leaving his features. "Wonder if she'll be interested in me?" he asked innocently, batting eyelashes at Mati. "Is she single?" Strel was not at all romantically interested in the woman in the paintings, but maybe it was an easier way to let his friend tell him why she hesitated. Besides, Strel was not going to take it to heart; he did not judge.
